Two people sent to the hospital after pickup crashes into semi-truck

Two people were injured after a pickup vehicle sped into the back of a semi-truck in Polk County

POLK COUNTY, Texas — A Chicago man was killed in a two-vehicle crash Monday afternoon in Polk County.

The crash happened at about 3:30 p.m. on US 59 near FM 62.

According to DPS, a 2008 Dodge pickup, driven by 56-year-old Edward Johnson of Nacogdoches, was traveling north on US 59 when it hit a semi-truck from behind. 

The pickup drove off the road and hit several trees before coming to a rest.

Johnson was not injured in the crash.

Johnson's pickup had two passengers, 54-year-old Hope Williams and 48-year-old Etta Skinner. 

Williams was taken to the hospital by helicopter. DPS did not say the extent of her injuries. DPS also did not say whether or not Skinner was hurt in the crash.

The driver of the semi-truck, 30-year-old Uriel Gonzalez of Chicago, was taken to the hospital for injuries. DPS did not say the extent of his injuries.

Gonzalez had one passenger in the semi-truck. That person was not hurt.
