The death of a Marshall man is causing Highway 59 safety concerns.
Saturday night, Marshall Police say 59 year old Raymond Williams died after being struck by a vehicle.
Police are still investigating this accident, but people we talk to say they want changes to be made to the road.
Pedestrians tell us they want to see sidewalks and more lights added to the highway. We spoke with TxDot and asked if changes could be made to the road.
"It could be possible if the city feels there's a need here,” TxDot Public Information Officer Marcus Sandifer says. “We would have to look at the safety factor that could benefit from it, then we could look at getting funding."
Sandier says TxDot is currently working on a continuous loop from Highway 59 South to Highway 59 North. Their goal is to help ease traffic along the highway.
