SMITH COUNTY — A Tyler man was arrested on Sunday after throwing a brick through gas station window, stealing beer and threatening jailers in the Smith County Jail.

LaMarion Adams, 39, is accused of vandalizing one gas station, stealing beer from another and making threats to jailers.

He is charged with theft and criminal mischief as well as obstruction or retaliation.

Adams went into the Exxon gas station, 1204 Gentry Parkway, around 10:40 a.m. when he got into a confrontation with the staff and was asked to leave, according to Tyler Police Public Information Officer Don Martin.

The worker allegedly threatened Adams with a bat to leave, and Adams responded by taking a brick, throwing it through the gas station window and leaving the area.

He then went to the D&N Grocery store, 1007 W. Bow St., where he ran into the store, took a case of Corona beer and ran out.

Martin said officers were already on the way to the Exxon call and spotted him in the area.

He was arrested and taken into custody and transported to the Smith County Jail. Once there, Adams allegedly threatened jailers, which resulted in the obstruction or retaliation charge.

He is held on a $21,000 bond for the charges.
