UPDATE (May 23, 2018): Texas DPS has confirmed 3 fatalities in an early morning accident.

Multiple agencies responded to a four vehicle crash on I-20 near mile marker 567.

The crash involved a passenger car, a truck tractor towing a saltwater tanker, a truck tractor towing a box trailer and a 1-ton dually towing a 30-foot trailer.

A preliminary investigation indicated that a passenger car was heading west on I-20 in the eastbound lanes.

That passenger car then hit a truck towing a fladbed trailer in the eastbound inside lane.

While that crash happened, a truck tractor towing a semi-trailer heading east, evaded to the to the right and then left to avoid the crash.

Because of that evasive action, the truck and towed semi-trailer crossed the center median and overturned into westbound lanes, where it was hit by a truck tractor towing a tanker trailer heading west.

There have been three confirmed fatalities, their identities are not known at this time.
