NACOGDOCHES — An officer from the Nacogdoches Police Department responded to a fatal shooting just before 11 p.m. Tuesday night at a home on 2421 Appleby Sand Road.
According to police, they received a call saying that a man had shot his step-father.
Nacogdoches police officers responded to the scene and found 54-year-old Nacogdoches native, David Alton Collins, fatally shot in the home.
Officers found36-year-old Nacogdoches native and Collins' step-son, Brian Lee Parker, inside the home with Collins.
After an investigation, police believe Collins and Parker were involved in an altercation. Then police say Parker shot his step-father.
Collins was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police arrested Parker and charged him with murder.
Police say homicide remains under investigation.
