UPDATE: Child killed in hit-and-run, suspect turns self in

UPDATE: On Monday, June 18 Josue Alejandro Prado Ramirez, 21 of Athens turned himself in to the Henderson County Jail on a Tyler Police Department warrant for an accident involving death of 11-year-old Damarion Williams.

Williams' family set up a GoFundMe account with the following statement:

"On June 17, 2018 I Experienced the most heartbreaking news ever My 11 year old was hit by a vehicle. He was killed instantly from a hit in run incident However he did not have any life insurance in I would like to give my son a proper burial any amount will help nothing to big or small May God Bless."

UPDATE – (Sun. June 17, 8:43 P.M.) Tyler Police are seeking information about a suspect who allegedly hit a child with his vehicle and killed him Sunday morning on Hwy 271.

A warrant was issued for 21-year-old Josue Alejandro Prado Ramirez of Athens after the body of 11-year-old Damarion Williams was found on the 9800 block of Highway 271.

Williams’ mother called Smith County Sheriff’s Office to report her son missing at around 3:00 p.m.

Information from witnesses led investigators to Ramirez’ vehicle in Athens. He has been charged with Accident Involving Death which is a second-degree felony. Ramirez’ bond was set at $250,000.

Authorities are currently working on locating Ramirez to place him under arrest.

An unidentified body was located in the median of Highway 271 Sun. June 17 at approximately 8 a.m., according to the Tyler Police Department.

Police responded to the 9800 block of Highway 271 to find a black man in his late teens who they believe was a pedestrian that had been struck by a vehicle.

Tyler Police say they are currently following up on information that has been made available to them.

At this time they're do not have any identification of the man but are asking for the public's help in identifying the body.

Police say he's around 5'3, slender build, wearing a black t-shirt and red parachute pants with black sandals.
