UPDATE: CHEROKEE COUNTY (KYTX) - Fuel thefts that occurred in Cherokee County earlier in the month turned into a joint investigation involving Cherokee County Sheriffs Office, Alto Police Department and several Agencies in Nacogdoches County.


Multiple charges have been filed against Zacorian White of Corrigan, who was arrested by Nacogdoches Police Department late last week during a traffic stop. After White was arrested, Investigators questioned him about fuel thefts in their area that he was suspected of having committed.


During questioning, White admitted to having committed the fuel thefts they were questioning him about, as well as others that he had been a part of that Nacogdoches County Investigators were not aware of.
His confession to Nacogdoches County Investigators prompted a call to Cherokee County Sheriff's Office and Alto PD.


Lt. Battley, from Cherokee County Sheriff's Office, went to Nacogdoches County Jail on Saturday (7/20) to interview White.

During that interview White provided a detailed statement as to his involvement in the theft of
diesel fuel from the Cherokee County Precinct 2 County Barn and the Alto ISD Bus Barn during the night of July 9th, early morning of July 10th. Both are located on FM-851 South inside the City Limits of Alto.


Lt. Battley obtained a State Jail Felony arrest warrant through Justice of the Peace, Precinct 4, Judge Vera Foreman for the theft of approximately 600 gallons of road diesel from the Cherokee County barn. Nacogdoches County was notified of the outstanding warrant, and a hold has been placed on White who will be transported to Cherokee County Jail should he make bond on the charges out of Nacogdoches County.


Bond amount on the Cherokee County charge will be set when arraigned in Cherokee County.
The theft of the fuel from the bus barn is being investigated by Alto Police Department, and charges may be filed by The State of Texas Comptrollers Office.

Zacorian Deandre White, 20, was arrested Saturday morning after Nacogdoches police saw a truck similar to the description given of the vehicle used in the gas thefts. When it was pulled over the driver, White, was questioned and ultimately confessed to the thefts.


Nacogdoches sheriff's say, White is responsible for thefts at Nacogdoches ISD, Garrison ISD, Chireno ISD, Alto ISD, Woden ISD and even theft at a Cherokee County work barn.


White along with two juvenile are responsible for the thefts. Law enforcement said the vehicle used in the string of gas thefts had been reported stolen out of Houston.


Sheriff's say additional charges could be possible for White and the juveniles involved.


White is being charged with two felonies, in precinct four he's being charged with a class a misdemeanor and a string of other charges from NISD.
