SAN ANTONIO — The Mt. Pleasant-Chapel Hill Lady Devils basketball team can call themselves state champions for the first time in school history.

Chapel Hill, who finished the season 37-0, topped Woodville 55-46 Saturday afternoon at the Alamodome in San Antonio in the UIL 3A state title game before a crowd of 4,393.

Guard Ja-Mya Bishop was named the game's Most Valuable Player after recording 18 points, five rebounds and two assists.

Chapel Hill led the game for 15:23 minutes, while Woodville held the lead for 13:28 minutes. They were tied for 3:09 minutes. There were three lead changes in the contest.
