LONE STAR (KYTX) - More than 700 steelworkers and supporters rallied outside U.S. Steel Tubular Products Co. in Lone Star this morning, lobbying Congress to put pressure on foreign steel exporters.

The 90-minute rally included U.S. Rep. Ralph Hall, R-Rockwall, State Rep. David Simpson, R-Longview, Longview Chamber of Commerce President Kelly Hall and organizers with the Alliance for American Manufacturing.

Workers in Lone Star say countries like South Korea are dumping their excess steel products onto the U.S. market at costs that are often less than half the price of U.S. manufactured steel, and it's threatening U.S. jobs. U.S. Steel Co. produces oil country tubular pipe, a product used in the East Texas oilfield and other areas of energy exploration.
