SMITH COUNTY, Texas — A 20-year-old gang member will spend 50 years in prison for engaging in organized criminal activity.

Dikembi Spencer, 20, of Tyler, was handed his sentence on Wednesday in the 114th District Court.

According to the Smith County District Attorney's Office, on November 13, 2017, Spencer, along with Davonte Black and a juvenile, arranged to buy one pound of marijuana for $2,200 at a Tyler apartment complex.

When the trio arrived at the drug dealer’s apartment, the juvenile remained outside while Spencer and Black went in and robbed the dealer at gunpoint.

During the robbery, Spencer and Black made off with the pound of marijuana and a pistol with an extended magazine. Later that day, Spencer posted a video on Snapchat of the three robbers displaying the stolen pistol, the firearms used to rob the dealer and the stolen marijuana.

Tyler Police Department detectives were able to recover the video and solve the case after interviewing witnesses.

Officials say Spencer is a ranking member of the West Side Rolling 60s Crips and had previously violated his juvenile probation for burglarizing a home in 2015, for which he was sent to juvenile prison. He was later sentenced to county jail time for evading arrest in 2017.
