SMITH COUNTY, Texas — A man is dead following a concrete pump truck collapse at a Smith County business Wednesday morning.
The accident occurred at 13628 Interstate 20 East, near the Highway 155 intersection, at about 8:45 a.m.. The SCSO says a concrete pump truck collapsed, killing 48-year-old Jose Pena Garcia.
No other injuries have been reported.
According to the Smith County Sheriff's Office, Garcia was pouring concrete at the hose end of the boom. The weight shifted, causing the apparatus to become unbalanced. The boom hit Garcia in the head and knocked him to the ground.
He was pronounced dead at the scene. The SCSO has ordered an autopsy.
OSHA will investigate the cause of the accident.
