TYLER - The District 10 Little League tournament is the first step for East Texas teams who want to make it to the Little League World Series.
The tournament started on Saturday with Lufkin and Pineywoods picking up wins, and both Tyler teams suffering losses.
That set up a battle for Tyler in an elimination game on Thursday night as Rose Capital East met Rose Capital West.
The West team struck first, thanks to a 2-run home run by Reed Overbeek in the first inning. And that would actually turn out to be enough. The West team added a couple more runs late, and they're moving on with a 4-0 win.
Also on Tuesday, Pineywoods beat Lufkin 14-6. So here's how the rest of the tournament will play out...
Game 5 - Thursday 7:00 PM in Lufkin
Lufkin vs. Rose Capital West (elimination game)
Game 6 - Saturday 7:00 PM at Faulkner Park (Tyler)
Pineywoods vs. Winner of Game 5
Game 7 (if Pineywoods loses game 6) - Tuesday 7:00 PM (site TBA)
Pineywoods vs. Winner of Game 5
