CARTHAGE - The Carthage football team knows a thing or two about winning.

The Bulldogs have the state's longest active winning streak (40 games), they've won 2 straight state titles, and they're in the state semifinals for the 6th time in the last 7 years.

Now, Carthage is just 2 wins away from the 3-peat, but they're taking nothing for granted.

Carthage senior running back Tucker Smith says, "Not many people get to say I got a chance at 3 rings or I've already got 2 rings like me...I mean, it's a blessing."

Getting that 3rd straight title won't be easy as the Bulldogs face a very good Liberty Hill team in the semifinals. These two team have met in the playoffs once before. That was back in 2007 and Liberty Hill won that game and went on to win the state title.

This year, the Bulldogs are feeling confident that they can continue their winning streak.

Head coach Scott Surratt says, "They think that they can win every game we play in and you better think you can or you're in trouble, so we got a lot of confidence."

The game between Carthage and Liberty Hill will be on Friday night at Cy-Fair FCU Stadium in Cypress...kickoff is at 7:30 PM.
