WHITEHOUSE - Before the 2017 high school football season started, Whitehouse junior Cameron Cantrell announced a verbal commitment to Texas Tech.

16 months later, Cantrell held true to his word and on Wednesday morning, he officially signed with the Red Raiders.

He becomes the 3rd Wildcats player in the last few years to go to Texas Tech, following his brother, Dylan, and of course, Patrick Mahomes.

While Cantrell made his decision a while ago, this process did get a little tougher over the last few weeks. After the 2018 season ended, the Red Raiders fired head coach Kliff Kingsbury and hired Matt Wells.

But Cantrell says he talked to the new coaching staff and never wavered on his commitment to the Red Raiders.

Cantrell says. "Tech was always the place I wanted to be. Now that I've gotten to know the new coaches and all them, I love them and I think they're the right fit for me."
