CBS19 needs your help to determine who will win this week's Whataburger Coach of the Week Award.
This week features two coaches who will soon be featured in a nationally televised game in September: Longview's John King and John Tyler's Ricklan Holmes.
John King ended last year's season with a state championship, the school's first championship in 81 years. The Lobos were undefeated last year and capped their season with a dramatic 35-34 victory over Beaumont West Brook. King's Lobos are poised to repeat their success from 2018 with another championship run.
After finishing 5-5 in 2017, Ricklan Holmes led the John Tyler Lions to a 10-3 record, ending with a 42-35 loss to eventual state champion Highland Park in the quarterfinals. Against crosstown rival Lee, the Lions trounced the Red Raiders 65-21.
The two coaches will meet on Sept. 8 at Rose Stadium. The game will be featured nationally on ESPN.
