John Tyler shows improvement in spring game

The John Tyler football team is trying to bounce back after missing the playoffs for the first time in a decade.

TYLER - John Tyler held their annual blue and white spring game on Thursday. Last season the Lions missed the playoffs for the first time since 2007. Things are a bit different this season. John Tyler has moved to class 5A Division I due to realignment earlier this year. The team has many players returning such as quarterback Devlen Woods and wide receiver Ke'Andre Street. Woods who had a somewhat of an up and down season last year, looked comfortable behind center while completing two touchdown passes. For head coach Ricklan Holmes he liked what he saw out of the offense.

"I think we grew as a team this is the first season since last season we went into the season not knowing who the quarterback was we don't have that issue it's Devlen Woods and we know that's who we're riding with as you can see today he's grown he's matured he's become a better quarterback and that's what we need we need a better quarterback he went through his growing pains he's ready this year," says Holmes.
