Kyle Keller basketball camp all about giving back

NACOGDOCHES - Over a hundred campers took over the sawmill on this particular day for Kyle Keller's basketball camp. But there's no way this camp would run efficiently without the help of some selfless individuals.

"Our players did a great job. They're understanding of how to serve and when you become servants, you do things for others you get so much back in return," says Stephen F. Austin men's basketball coach Kyle Keller.

Keller's team has been front and center throughout the camp, and for players like junior forward Kevon Harris the camp is all about giving back.

"Well first off I love kids. Just growing up helping them with the game. Teaching them the game…you know. Its big for me. It's fun to watch people get better and all that other stuff, and I love working with kids so it was no problem at all," states Harris.

Many of the kids who attended the camp may one day be cheering for the Lumberjacks this season.

"We tell our players, they're going to make new fans and new friends. So if they want this arena full, the impression that they make at camp with the campers and their parents is really important. It's their responsibility to give back and to participate in stuff just like this because regardless if they're were able to come to camp like this at their age or not, that's our responsibility with the position that we're in," explains Keller.

Most importantly, for Harris there is a message he feels many of the campers should live by.

"Just got to do good deeds I guess. That's just a part of life. You do good it comes back to you ten times more, so you just always got to put other people first," says Harris.
