LONGVIEW - Because of the threat of bad weather on Friday night, a few high school football playoff games have been moved.

One of those games is the 3A Division 1 match-up between Mt. Vernon and Atlanta. That game was moved up a day, so the two teams met on Thursday night at Pirate Stadium in Longview.

The first half was a very back and forth contest. The two teams traded touchdowns and Mt. Vernon held a slim 14-13 lead at the half.

But the 2nd half was a completely different story. That half was all Atlanta as they scored 24 unanswered points and went on to win 38-14.

Mt. Vernon ends their season with a record of 8-4 while Atlanta will now play either Malakoff or Gladewater next week.
