BULLARD - Tuesday, August 1, was the first day that TAPPS football teams could hold practices.

Brook Hill wasted no time getting their first practice underway, hitting the field just a few minutes after midnight.

The Guard have a good reason to be on the field before the sun rises. They started the 2016 season with a 5-0 record before losing 5 of their final 6 games and ending their season in the first round of the playoffs.

This year, they return roughly half of their starters, including senior quarterback Hood Taylor. And the Guard coaching staff is working these guys hard right from the start to make sure they don't falter down the stretch again this year.

Head coach Scott Ryle says, "I told them that every single rep matters and I don't want any kid to take a play off, I don't want a freshman to take a play off, they will be counted on some time in the year and that's what it takes to have that home playoff game."
