VAN - From 2012 to 2015, the Van football team was both really good and really bad. In the regular season, they were 30-11.

But in the playoffs, they went 0-4.

Fortunately, the Vandals turned things around in 2016. They had one of their best regular seasons in school history and followed it up with a run all the way to the state quarterfinals. And they're hoping to continue that success in 2017.

Van senior quarterback Garrett Moseley says, "We set a new standard last year that hasn't really been set around here since like the 1970' kinda set the standard high and that's what we're supposed to do every year."

If the Vandals are able to make another deep run this year, it will be at least in part because of Moseley. He's back for his 3rd season under center and after throwing 36 touchdowns in 2016, his coach expects another great year 2017.

Van head coach Jared Moffatt says, "I sleep a lot better every night knowing that we have Garrett back under center. Anytime you have a 3-year starter back at quarterback that's played as many downs as him and has the experience he does, it puts you a step ahead going into the season."
