Lufkin 2-vehicle crash results in 74-year-old woman's death

Lufkin Police Department responded to the intersection of North Timberland Dr. at Atkinson Dr.

LUFKIN, Texas — A 74-year-old woman died in a two-vehicle crash Thursday afternoon in Lufkin. 

Lufkin Police Department responded to the intersection of North Timberland Dr. at Atkinson Dr. 

Hunter Lackey, 40, was driving a 1996 Saturn Sedan with Lucy Geishaker, 74, in the passenger seat when he he was driving westbound on Atkinson Dr. and ran the red light due to faulty brakes, according to officials.  

Lackey's vehicle hit a 2022 Kia Sorento driven by Pamela Green, 54. Geishaker and Green were taken to local hospitals. Lackey didn't have any injuries.

Officials said Geishaker died from unknown injuries at the hospital and her family was notified of her passing. Green's injuries were not life-threatening. 

Officers gave Lackey a citation for no insurance and disregarding a traffic control device.
