Motorcyclist critically injured in traffic accident

One person sustained critical injuries.

TYLER, Texas — The Jacksonville Police and Fire Departments were dispatched to a traffic accident involving a motorcycle on April 21, 2022 at 1:27 p.m.

The accident occurred in the 1500 block of South Jackson Street.

According to the City of Jacksonville Police Department, it was determined that the Jeep was traveling north and turning into a private parking lot. The motorcycle, traveling south on Jackson Street, hit the right rear of the Jeep.

Nathaniel Taylor McGowan, 25 was the driver of the motorcycle. The Jeep Liberty was driven by driven by Frances Darlene Pickett, 63 years of age from Riesel, Texas.

McGowan sustained critical injuries and received lifesaving care by a witness. He was transported to the U.T. Health emergency room in Jacksonville. Later he was flown to the UT Tyler trauma center

There is an on-going investigation of the crash.
