6 people, including 4 kids, injured after car crash in Smith County

One child was airlifted to the Children's Medical Center in Dallas. The other people were transported to UT Health East Texas in Tyler.

SMITH COUNTY, Texas — Six people, including four children, were injured after a two-vehicle crash involving a freightliner Tuesday afternoon in Smith County. 

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, at approximately 5:10 p.m., troopers arrived at the scene of a crash between a GMC Envoy and a Freightliner truck on Highway 64 West and FM 2661.

The GMC had six people, including four children ages 8 to 16, inside. One child was airlifted to the Children's Medical Center in Dallas, DPS said. 

The five other people were transported to UT Health East Texas in Tyler. The two people in the Freightliner truck were not injured, according to DPS.
