Vehicle collided with fire engine as emergency services were on-site of another vehicle collision

There were no injuries to the firefighters, but the driver of the oncoming vehicle was transported to a local hospital.

SMITH COUNTY, Texas — **EDITOR'S NOTE -- the video attached was produced in April 2022.

A collision between a vehicle and a Fire Engine occurred on I-20 this morning.

At around 8 a.m. on April 25, the Smith County Emergency Services District Two and Winona Fire Department were dispatched to respond to a vehicle collision on the 576 West Bound intersection of I-20. While they were responding to the collision, an oncoming vehicle struck the fire truck.

This additional collision caused significant damage to both the fire truck and oncoming vehicle. There were no injuries to the firefighters, but the driver of the oncoming vehicle was transported to a local hospital.

The Texas Department of Public Safety is currently investigating this collision.

Smith County ESD Two is encouraging all drivers to proceed with caution, as the roads are slick and can be dangerous while driving at faster speeds.

This is an ongoing story and CBS19 will update when more information is available.
