LONGVIEW, Texas — Longview added to the list of cities experiencing flood issues following rounds of drenching rain across parts of Pineywoods.

Fairmont Street, Bill Owens Parkway and other major roads were filled with water early Tuesday morning due to Flash Flooding.

Flash Flooding occurs when water rises within 6 hours of a rain event and it can recede just as fast giving the illusion that the threat is over.

With more rain on the way, drivers and residents should be aware that additional flooding is likely across the region with a Flash Flood Watch in effect until Wednesday morning.

If you run into high water on your commute, do not drive through it. Debris, broken glass, and downed power lines could lie beneath flooded water.

It only takes about a foot of water to float a vehicle and six inches of water to know you off your feet.
