CBS19 WEATHER: Thunderstorms possible this evening

Check out the latest forecast from the CBS19 Weather Experts.

TYLER, Texas — Good morning East Texas,

There is a lot of instability in the atmosphere which could result in strong to severe thunderstorms this evening. At this time, no watches are in place but we'll let you know if one is issued.

As for the weekend, it might be a good idea to have a plan B for any outdoor activities. Heavy rain and thunderstorms are rolling in Saturday and Saturday night and bringing the potential for flooding.  Thundershowers will hang around through the weekend, so we'll have to wait until Sunday afternoon to see sunshine in the Piney Woods.

Here's your forecast:

TONIGHT:

As you step out side today the first thing you'll notice is the humidity. The mugginess is the fuel needed for scattered thunderstorms to form and cruise through East Texas starting around 7 tonight.  At this time, the Storm Prediction Center has a level 2 risk for severe thunderstorms in the I20-I30 corridor, so make sure to keep an eye on the forecast. After midnight, the sky becomes overcast as temperatures drop to near 60-degrees.

TOMORROW:

Lots of cloud cover Friday and maybe a stray shower or two along a stalled frontal boundary closer to Deep East Texas. Temperatures will be cooler ranging from the low 70s near I-30 to the upper 70s in places such as Nacogdoches, Lufkin or Crockett. Late Friday and overnight into Saturday morning showers and thunderstorms develop along the stalled front. The front will wobble over East Texas this weekend providing a likely chance of rain Saturday and Saturday night.
