CBS19 WEATHER: Morning mugginess to evening thunderstorms

Check out the latest forecast from the CBS19 Weather Experts.

TYLER, Texas — Good morning East Texas,

Thursday looks like a warm and muggy day, but that combination will lead to a lot of instability in the atmosphere which could result in strong to severe thunderstorms Thursday night.

As for the weekend, it might be a good idea to have a plan B for any outdoor activities. Heavy rain and thunderstorms are rolling in Saturday afternoon and Saturday night and bringing the potential for flooding.  Thundershowers will hang around through the weekend, so we'll have to wait until Sunday afternoon to see sunshine in the Piney Woods.

Here's your forecast:

TODAY:

As you step out side today the first thing you'll notice is the humidity. The mugginess will set us up for storms later the evening.  But the daylight hours will be mostly dry with enough sunshine at times to boost the temperature into the mid and upper 80s.  Scattered thunderstorms will cruise through starting around 7 tonight.  At this time, the Storm Prediction Center has a level 2 risk for severe thunderstorms in the I20-I30 corridor, so make sure to keep an eye on the forecast.

TOMORROW:

A few stray showers may stick around in the wee hours of the morning, but we are staying mostly dry tomorrow.  Thanks to a weak cold front, afternoon temperatures will only rise to the upper 70s.  Late in the evening a few showers could bring midnight rain to the Piney Woods.  This is the front edge of a larger storm system that will bring heavy rain over the weekend.
