It is HOT HOT HOT this week East Texas. We saw highs in the upper 90s on Monday & Tuesday. It wasn't overly humid for our standards, but it was humid enough to make it feel in the 100s during much of the afternoon. There is a small chance for some isolated showers around East Texas this morning, but they should be gone by the afternoon. The big thing you will need today, a way to stay cool!

For today expect partly cloudy skies and some isolated rain showers around the region. The highest risk for these is in the morning hours and for the northern and the Louisiana border counties, however the chance will exist for all of East Texas. Winds will be light, from the southwest at 5 to 10 mph. The good news is this afternoon dew points stay a bit lower for us, but with temps in the upper 90s anyway, feels like temps will still be in the mid-100s by the afternoon. For Wednesday night, expect partly cloudy skies becoming mostly clear by the morning. Temps will fall only to the upper 70s.

Thursday we will see mostly sunny skies along with temps that will return to the low 100s. More sunny skies will return on Friday and last through next week. If we get over 102° Friday, we will tie a record, but that appears to be our only shot at a record during this heat streak. Temps get as hot as 102-103 by Friday and Saturday, so make sure you have plans to beat the heat!

The only chance at relief in our forecast comes by midweek next week. Next Tuesday we are looking at a high of 99 and a 30% chance for rain with partly cloudy skies.

Stay hydrated and stay cool East Texas!
