TYLER, Texas — We are starting off the work week pretty dry in East Texas, but that pattern won't last past Monday. There are plenty of chances for rain are in the days ahead, some of which could be pretty heavy. Let's take a look at the latest forecast!

For today expect skies to be mostly to partly cloudy around East Texas. There will be a 10% chance for rain during the day today, but most all of us should remain dry. During the afternoon some clearing will work its way into East Texas, but that will start to fade heading through tonight. However brief, this clearing will help temps rise some this afternoon. Expect a high in the low 50s for central East Texas. Highs along I-30 will likely stay in the upper 40s, and Deep East Texas could see highs in the upper 50s!

For tonight expect skies to again become mostly cloudy. There will be a small chance for rain around before midnight, but rain chances will rise to around 50% during the early morning hours Tuesday. Things will be a bit windy as well, with winds coming from the east at 10 to 20 mph. Lows tonight will be chilly, with temps falling to the upper 30s.

Tomorrow will be a very rainy day around East Texas. This will result in a need for rain coats and umbrellas all day long. Rain, heavy at times, will be around from the morning commute all the way through tomorrow night. Rain totals could be heavy in some regions, with many locations seeing between half an inch and one inch of rain. Some locations, caught under heavy cells, could see as much as two inches. The heaviest totals overall will be near the Louisiana border.

A few storms may be around Tuesday as well, but severe weather is not expected. Temps will be chilly all day long, with highs only reaching into the low 40s.

Wednesday and Thursday:

The midweek will bring a bit of a break to the wet pattern around East Texas. Expect a 40% chance for rain early on Wednesday, but then skies should clear out some during the afternoon. Highs will get warmer as well, with temps rising to the mid to upper 50s by Wednesday afternoon.

Skies that cleared on Wednesday will then re-cloud for Thursday. Expect to see increasing clouds during the day with a 50% chance of seeing some rain around. Temps will be a touch cooler, only reaching the mid-50s.

Stormy Friday and Saturday:

The week comes to a close with a stormy pattern entering East Texas. This weather pattern could bring another soaking rainfall to East Texas as well, and this could result in some flooding for low lying areas. Over the two day period anywhere from one half to two inches of rain could fall. Some areas could see higher totals, but it is too early to predict this with much certainty as of now.

For Friday expect to see mostly cloudy skies and a 70% chance for rain showers and storms. Severe weather is not expected as of right now, but we will keep an eye on this. Temps will be mild, reaching to near 60 for the high.

Saturday will bring much warmer weather and potentially stronger storms. Expect mostly cloudy skies and another 70% chance for rain and storms. These storms could be stronger as the air will be warmer. Highs will be near 70 on Saturday.

This extra energy has prompted the Storm Prediction Center to place East Texas under a 15% risk for severe weather. It is too early to have much detail as of now, but the CBS 19 weather team will be keeping a close eye on this situation.

Sun will return for Sunday with highs that stay in the low-60s.

Get the umbrellas ready for a wet week ahead East Texas. They should be getting some use over the next 7 days!
