We have been dodging a few pop up showers and storms the last couple days, with most of the rain Monday falling in deep East Texas. We should see the pattern of scattered showers and storms repeat this afternoon as temps again rise into the upper 80s.
For today expect partly cloudy skies as scattered showers and storms develop off the heating of the day during the afternoon. Highs should get to around 88 in Tyler, with rain chances decreasing as temps cool off overnight. This precipitation pattern will continue all week as you notice there are rain chances, at least to some degree, each of the next 7 days for East Texas. These will mainly be heat driven storms, most prevalent in the afternoon hours. Unfortunately, since we are below normal rainfall levels for this time of the year, widespread soaking rains do not appear to be in the forecast. After today, the best chance over the next 7 days for rain in Tyler appears to be Wednesday and Thursday with 30% chances for showers and storms in the region on these days.
Temperatures are expected to climb into the low 90s for your 3-day weekend. The threat for showers and weak storms exists, but I would not cancel your plans or be overly concerned. The storms will not effect most people and, if they show up, shouldn't last too long. The best shot for rain looks to be Saturday, with only 15% chances for showers and storms around on Sunday and Memorial Day. Let's hope the forecast doesn't change over the next few days.
