CBS19 WEATHER: Thunderstorms possible this evening

Check out the latest forecast from the CBS19 Weather Experts.

TYLER, Texas — Good morning East Texas,

We are waking up to a cold front cutting across the Piney Woods.  This is setting up a cooler weather pattern for the next few days.

As for the weekend, it might be a good idea to have a plan B for any outdoor activities. Heavy rain and thunderstorms are rolling in Saturday and Saturday night and bringing the potential for flooding.  Thundershowers will hang around through the weekend, so we'll have to wait until Sunday afternoon to see sunshine in the Piney Woods.

Here's your forecast:

TODAY:

Expect lots of cloud cover and maybe a stray shower in Deep East Texas today. Temperatures will be cooler ranging from the low 70s near I-30 to the upper 70s in places such as Nacogdoches, Lufkin or Crockett. Late Friday and overnight into Saturday morning showers and thunderstorms develop along the stalled front. The front will wobble over East Texas this weekend providing a likely chance of rain Saturday and Saturday night.

THE WEEKEND:

It will be a rainy weekend.  Showers will start to fire up late today and bring midnight rain to areas north of I20.   Heavy rain will continue all the way through midday on Sunday.  Rain totals will stack up to 1 to 3 inches.
