Sunny and breezy this afternoon as storms move away to the east

The National Weather Service has issued a Wind Advisory.

AUSTIN, Texas — The storms have moved east. Temperatures briefly dropped after the front, but will quickly rebound to the upper 70s for the afternoon.

Sunshine and windy weather is expected the rest of the day. A Wind Advisory is in place for winds gusting up to 40 mph in the Hill County.  This breeze will also produce an elevated fire risk ask drier air moves in behind the front. Please avoid any activities that could create a fire.

If you're a fan of spring, then the second half of the week is for you. Expect sunshine and highs in the 70s through the weekend. With that being said, the mornings will be a bit chilly for the rest of the week with lows in the 40s. The next rain chance won't arrive until next work week.

Timeline

7 a.m. Wednesday: Most of the strong storms and rain will be east of Austin. Skies will be clearing from west to east with a few storms still possible for our eastern counties.

Wednesday afternoon: Hello sunshine! After the stormy start to the day, there will be plenty of sunshine through most of the day. Highs will be in the 70s with low humidity thanks to a dry northwest wind. This wind will be strong. Expect sustained winds at 10 to 20 mph with gusts of up to 30 mph possible.

Main threats

The greatest threat will be hail. Large hail greater than one inch will be possible with some of these isolated storms. Gusty winds will be a major concern as well. Damaging wind gusts of 60 mph or greater will be possible. This could cause tree limbs to snap and power outages.

Tornadoes are a low threat at this time, but still something we will keep a close eye on. Rainfall of up to one-quarter inch will be possible.
