Longview's Season Comes To a Heartbreaking End

"The thrill of victory and the agony of defeat" is a common phrase used in the sports world. And on Saturday night, Longview suffered an agonizing defeat to Midway 28-26. The loss eliminated the Lobos' hopes of making a state championship run.

With less than 10 seconds on the clock, Lobos kicker Chris Kessler attempted a 29 yard field goal for the win, but he just missed...by inches.

Though Longview walked away defeated, they did not go down without a fight. After falling behind 28-13 in the 3rd quarter, the Lobos scored 13 unanswered points before missing their final field goal attempt. Sophomore quarterback Haynes King threw for 187 yards and two touchdowns. A'Darius Carter caught 6 passes for 78 yards and two touchdowns.

After the loss, head coach John King stated, "I know its heartbreaking to them but these guys are winners in life. This is just a small piece of what they got coming. A special group of kids."

Longview ends their season with a record of 13-2. That's their best record since 2009.
