CBS19 WEATHER: Rain ends but sky stays cloudy tonight

Check out the latest forecast from the CBS19 Weather Experts.

TYLER, Texas — Good evening East Texas,

A potent storm system is spinning through East Texas this evening. The storm has poured between one and two inches of rain over most of the region. Some slightly higher amounts are being recorded over parts of Deep East Texas but it appears, at this time, the worst of potential flash flooding will stay south of Lufkin, San Augustine and Hemphill and Nacogdoches. Some high water was reported by the Trinity County sheriff's office. Once this rain exits East Texas tonight, we can sit back and enjoy a break from the rain for a few days. It will heat up as temperatures approach 90-degrees this weekend. That will make for some perfect mosquito weather.

Here's your forecast:

TONIGHT:

The storm system bringing moderate to heavy rain across East Texas will works its way into the lower Mississippi River valley this evening. This means the rain will come to an end around midnight but the sky will remain cloudy throughout the night. A light north wind will develop dropping the temperature into the low to mid-60s and that could result in a thick blanket of fog in parts of East Texas.

TOMORROW:

A cloudy sky will dominate the first half of Friday but some peeks of sunshine from behind the overcast will be possible Friday afternoon. This should help to warm the temperature into the low-80s. The piece of energy associated with our latest storm system will move through North Texas. This could result in some isolated showers or thunderstorms early Friday evening, otherwise there is a very good chance if you are attending a high school graduation ceremony or outside party you will stay dry.
