1 hospitalized after fire destroys home in Gun Barrel City

The American Red Cross is assisting the residents and the cause of the fire is being investigated by the Gun Barrel City Fire Marshal's Office.

GUN BARREL CITY, Texas — One person was hospitalized following a house fire in Gun Barrel City.

According to the Gun Barrel City Fire Department, on Wednesday, Jan. 24, around 8:40 a.m., crews responded to a house fire in the 100 block of Pine Bloom Dr. 

"Upon arrival, heavy smoke and fire was observed coming from the roof and  windows," the GBCFD said. "Gun Barrel City requested mutual aid from Mabank, Tool, Seven Points Fire Departments and Payne Springs Fire Rescue. "

The homeowners and their dogs were able to escape. One resident was taken to a local hospital for smoke inhalation.
