According to a release, the incident happened at approximately 3:40 p.m. on Saturday, April 13.

A man was driving home in his vehicle when the 18-year-old victim approached the car. At some point shortly after approaching the driver, the victim attempted to jump onto running board of the driver's side of the vehicle.

Police said both the victim and the driver had been involved in a game of tag with squirt guns.

The driver continued to drive forward when the victim fell backwards off of the vehicle, striking his head on the roadway.

Emergency crews were called to Crown Colony Drive. When members of the Avon Fire Department arrived to the scene, a woman was attempting to give the victim CPR.

He was transported to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead shortly after.

The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner's Office released the victim's identity Monday morning as Paul Allen of Avon.

Avon police are currently reconstructing the scene and investigating the incident.
