TYLER, Texas — Good morning, East Texas!
Today are the last few hours of Winter, as Spring arrives tonight at 10:06-- And this morning was a cold reminder of it! A broad and strong area of high pressure has settled over East Texas, so expect widespread frost this morning. A freeze warning is in effect between until 9AM, but after it expires it may be our last one of the season. We're also tracking a low pressure system that will move over the Piney woods late Wednesday into Thursday, bringing our first shot at Spring showers and storms.
Here's your forecast:
TODAY:
The freeze warning expires at 9 AM, and Spring arrives at 10:06 PM. As the last day of winter, temperatures are expected to rise from the 30s into the mid to upper 60s with a sky full of sunshine. At the begging of Spring, the average high temperature is 71, and by the start of the Summer solstice in June, the average high is 81.
TONIGHT:
Overnight, temperatures will fall again, but thanks to clouds that move into the Piney woods, it will help radiate some heat back in and keep us a little warmer tonight than we we're last night... but you may still want your heater on with overnight temperatures in the upper 40s.
WEDNESDAY:
While temperatures look to make it into the low 70s, it won't be thanks to any sunshine. Clouds move into the area starting Wednesday morning and lock us in for a mostly gray day. According to recent model runs the showers that looked to move into East Texas late Wednesday evening seem to be holding off until Thursday morning now, so Wednesday looks like a dry and muggy day.
