KILGORE, Texas — Turkey Creek in Kilgore is back to its natural color and analysis indicate the substance that caused the creek to turn blue was not harmful.
The City of Kilgore said in a Facebook post, "preliminary results on chemical analysis indicate that the substance was benign, did not contain toxic carbon-containing substances, and had no ill effect on water quality parameters other than color."
This comes after state officials investigated after city of Kilgore staff learned Turkey Creek had turned blue.
The post also said that "Turkey Creek had its moment in the blue spotlight, but now it's back to its clear natural beauty!"
