TEMPLE, Texas — A Temple woman who was reported missing on Friday, April 13 has been found dead, according to Temple Police Department.
Louise W. Shumate was last seen on April 7. Officers believed that she may have been driving a silver 2014 Buick LaCrosse.
According to TPD, investigation led to a low water crossing located in the 3200 Blk of Riverside Trail. A drone was sent out and a vehicle matching the victim’s vehicle description was located on April 13, down Pepper Creek.
Shumate was located inside of the car and was alone, TPD said.
According to TPD, investigation revealed that Shumate attempted to cross the low water crossing on Riverside Trail as water covered that portion of the roadway.
The force of the water forced the vehicle off the roadway and down the creek where it was pinned between several trees and eventually was covered by water with the Shumate inside, TPD said.
Shumate has been recovered and family members will be contacted.
