LUFKIN, Texas — The Lufkin Police Department is investigating a robbery that happened Wednesday night on South Medford Drive.

According to the Lufkin Police Department, officers responded to Which Wich at 4605 South Medford Drive just before 9 p.m. on a robbery call.

Police say an employee was taking the trash out when a masked male suspect held him a gunpoint. The employee described the pistol as pink and black.

The suspect took the employee back into the store, where the employee was made to empty the cash register and safe.

Afterward, the suspect fled the scene in an older-model white sedan that resembled a police car.

Lufkin police told surrounding agencies about the robbery and urged them to keep a lookout for the vehicle.

At 9:08 p.m., a deputy with the Angelina County Sheriff's Office reported a white Mercury Grand Marquis leaving the South Loop Crossing area. The deputy gave the license plate, which confirmed the registered addressed to be in the 300 block of Whippoorwill Drive.

At 9:11 p.m., officers surrounded the home and made contact with the homeowner.

According to LPD, there were four people at the home, including 19-year-old Daryus Wooten.

LPD says the homeowner gave officers permission to search the home, where they found clothes that matched the clothes worn during the robbery. Officers also found the pink and black pistol as well as money from the restaurant.

Officers arrested Wooten and charged him with aggravated robbery. He was booked into the Angelina County Jail on a $75,000 bond.
