Tyler man accused of slashing coworker's throat after allegedly smoking synthetic marijuana

The Smith County Sheriff's Office says Danny Ray Tate slashed his co-workers throat after a fight broke out between the two.

TYLER, Texas — The Smith County Sheriff's Office is investigating a incident Wednesday where a man allegedly cut the throat of his coworkers.

According to the SCSO, the incident happened in the area of Ann Campbell Road and Texas College Road at about 10:20 a.m.

The sheriff's office says the suspect, 38-year-old Danny Ray Tate and the unidentified victim were coworkers in the 10000 block of Highway 69 North in Tyler.

The co-workers decided to smoke "K-2" or spice, a form of synthetic marijuana, the sheriff's office said. A fight broke out between the two. During that time, investigators say Tate slashed the victim in the throat. 

Tate allegedly loaded the victim in his car before leaving him at the intersection of Ann Campbell and CR 485.

When deputies arrived on the scene, the found the victim bleeding profusely from the next.

Deputies arrested Tate on FM 14 near Loop 323. He is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

The SCSO victim is in stable condition and is expected to survive the attack.
