Rusk County — Anyone with outstanding fees or late fines will have the opportunity to have them waived and help others in the process.

The Kilgore Public Library is partnering with Helping Hands Food Pantry to waive the fines of patrons that were generated on or before December 6, 2017. Those wishing to get their fines and fees waived can bring in items for the Helping Hands Food Pantry to help shave off some of those pesky fines.

The event will begin June 5 –June 6 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.

“We are truly hoping that our patrons who haven’t been to the library in months or even years will take advantage of this opportunity to get back in the library,” says Stacey Cole, Director of the Kilgore Public Library. “With the addition of several new staff members, the library is undergoing a transformation and more new programs and items are being offered than ever before. We would hate for someone to miss out on all of that due to the inability to pay fines... especially families and children.”

Contact the library or go to kilgorelibrary.org and click on Fine Forgiveness 2018 for additional details on the event. To determine the amount owed on fees call the library at 903-984-1529
