Officials identify woman killed in Nacogdoches County house fire

The house has been deemed a complete loss and the cause remains under investigation, the sheriff's office said.

NACOGDOCHES COUNTY, Texas — Authorities have identified the woman who was killed after a house fire in Nacogdoches County last Thursday morning.

Lucy Hayes Lambert, 58, was found dead inside a home in the 200 block of CR 5011 in Kingtown area after firefighters extinguished the blaze, Nacogdoches County Sheriff's Office spokesperson Tim Monzingo said. The call for the fire came in around 6 a.m. Thursday.

The house has been deemed a complete loss and the cause remains under investigation. Officials believe there are no immediate signs of foul play, Monzingo said.

Volunteers from the Etoile, Melrose, Woden, and Kingtown volunteer fire departments, and firefighters from the Nacogdoches Fire Department, all responded to the fire.

"The prayers, thoughts and sympathies of the Nacogdoches County Sheriff’s Office are with the Lambert  family during this difficult time," the sheriff's office said.

The sheriff’s office and the State Fire Marshal’s Office are leading the investigation.
