TYLER, Texas — The second annual CBS19 Urban Kids Fishing Derby is kicking off Saturday morning.
On Wednesday, Academy Sports and Outdoors made a big donation of $1,000 to the derby. That paid for more than 100 fishing rods for kids (ages 15 and under) that will be given away Saturday.
The fishing derby will begin at 8 a.m. Saturday and conclude at noon at Woldert Park, located at 701 W. 32nd St. in Tyler. Last year's derby at Faulkner Park in Tyler drew close to 100 young anglers. This year, almost 150 are signed up to fish.
There will be giveaways, prizes, food and above all ... FUN!
