Brookshire Grocery Co.'s annual Fresh 15 race set for Saturday in Tyler

Participants will gather at 7 a.m. at Fresh by Brookshire's, located at 6991 Old Jacksonville Highway in Tyler, to run throughout the city of Tyler.

TYLER, Texas — Runners will put their best foot forward at the 11th annual Fresh 15 race early Saturday morning in Tyler. 

Participants will gather at 7 a.m. at Fresh by Brookshire's, located at 6991 Old Jacksonville Highway in Tyler, to run throughout the city of Tyler. The event includes 15K, 5K, and Lil' Freshies 1K races along with a post-race party behind the grocery store. All proceeds from race fees go toward local nonprofits. 

Before the big event, here's some information you'll need to know: 

Packet pickup will run from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, noon to 8 p.m. Friday and 5 to 6 a.m. Saturday. There will be a Camp Gladiator warmup from 6:25 to 6:45 a.m. ahead of the race. Opening ceremonies will start at 6:50 a.m. Saturday and the 15K and 5K races will begin at 7 a.m. 

The awards ceremony will be held at 9 a.m. The Lil' Freshie 1K will begin at 9:30 a.m. 

Participants should plan to arrive at the race site at least 30 minutes early to find adequate parking. Calvary Baptist Church and Swann's are the designated parking areas. 

Several roads will be closed because of the race, including Three Lakes Parkway (from 6 a.m. until race finish), Old Jacksonville Highway and Dueling Oaks Drive (from 6:45 a.m. to 9 a.m.) and Highlands Lane between Three Lakes Parkway and Oak Hill Blvd. (from 6 a.m. until race finish). Tyler police, Fresh 15 race staff and volunteers will work together to direct traffic in these areas.
