TYLER, Texas — A Chandler man was killed and four people were injured after a three-vehicle wreck on State Highway 31 in Smith County Monday afternoon.
Cameron S. Reeves, 18, of Hawkins, was driving west on State Highway 31 East, while the driver of a vehicle, Robert T. Pierzchalski, 67, of Henderson, and the driver of a third vehicle, Cory D. Threadgill, 40, of Gladewater, were traveling east on the same highway, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
Reeves failed to drive in a single lane and collided with Pierzchalski's vehicle. Reeves' vehicle continued and Threadgill took evasive action to avoid colliding with Reeves' vehicle, DPS said.
Threadgill ended up striking a tree, and Reeves' car continued into the southern ditch and struck a tree as well, according to DPS.
Reeves' passenger, Aidan R. Kelley, 20, of Chandler, was pronounced dead at the scene, while Reeves was taken to a local hospital with non-incapacitating injuries.
Pierzchalski, Threadgill and Threadgill's passenger, Brandon D. Carpenter, 42, of Gladewater, were also taken to the hospital for non-incapacitating injuries, DPS said.
