'Grease' actor, hit singer Frankie Avalon to perform at Belcher Center

Doors open at 6 p.m. Saturday for the 7 p.m. performance.

LONGVIEW, Texas — He was in the movie “Grease.” He had two Billboard No. 1 hits. He’s appeared in several TV shows. And on Saturday, he’ll be on stage in Longview.

Frankie Avalon, the chart-topping teen idol who sang his way to stardom throughout the 1950s and ‘60s with hits such as “Venus” and “Why,” and who sang “Beauty School Dropout” in “Grease,” will drop in at the LeTourneau University Belcher Center auditorium for a concert at 7 p.m. Saturday.

Avalon is one of the more legendary artists to perform at the facility, and it’ll be his first time on stage in East Texas, said Belcher Center Senior Director Cody Bowen.
