East Texas eighth grader's classwork to become milkshake available in shops across the country

Students were asked to create an original shake recipe and draw what that shake would look like.

LINDALE, Texas — A Lindale Junior High student will soon have her shake recipe on The Yard Milkshake Bar menus across the country.

On Monday, eighth grader Ellee Pollard was voted by Instagram followers of The Yard Milkshake Bar as the winner of the milkshake project. The shop is known for its over-the-top milkshake creations.

Pollard's "Holy Cannoli" was the winner and will be added to the June monthly specials at The Yard Milkshake Bar. The recipe includes whip cream, powder sugar, chocolate fudge drizzle, chocolate chips around the rim, chocolate and vanilla ice cream and a cannoli.

Lindale Junior High art teacher Donna King decided to incorporate The Yard Milkshake Bar into her curriculum after visiting the store last summer.

For the project, students were asked to design their own milkshake, combining flavors, toppings, and names into a drawing.

According to The Yard Milkshake Bar website, King "incorporated this challenge into their curriculum, fostering a blend of artistry and marketing savvy in their students. With guidance and encouragement, these young creators learn about flavor profiles and the elements of an appealing product presentation."

"The (voting) process is meticulous; each element from the student's vision is considered, from the base flavor to the most whimsical topping. Our team at The Yard Milkshake Bar analyzes the drawings for feasibility, flavor combinations, and visual appeal," the website said.

The Yard Milkshake Bar has location across the country including, Virginia, Colorado, Georgia, Arizona, Texas, Ohio and more.

For those looking to make a trip to get Pollard's creation this summer, the nearest location is in The Colony in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. The address is 4940 State Highway 121 Suite 100.
