LINDALE, Texas — A Lindale man was sentenced to over seven years in federal prison Tuesday for possessing child pornography.

Michael James Quam, 29, entered a guilty plea on July 20 to possessing or accessing child pornography.  He was sentenced to 87 months in federal prison Tuesday, according to the U.S. Department of Justice.

Court information showed on March 5, 2020, a law enforcement official, while working undercover, connected to a social media sharing group and a user, later  identified as Quam, posted a link to a “cloud storage” provider to the group.

That link led to a folder giving access to files of videos containing child pornography. Quam admitted to knowing that the folder included video of child porn, according to court information.

The FBI and Homeland Security Investigations investigated the case and Assistant U.S. Attorney Alan R. Jackson prosecuted it.
