East Texas woman gets 13 years for killing man in 2021 shooting

Jeanne-Marie Minter told police she and Chris Baker were in a verbal argument that turned physical on May 13, 2021.

LONGVIEW, Texas — A Longview woman was sentenced to 13 years in prison after pleading guilty to killing a 41-year-old man during a 2021 argument. 

Jeanne-Marie Minter, 39, pleaded guilty to manslaughter in connection with the May 13, 2021 shooting death of Chris Baker, of Longview. She was then sentenced to 13 years, according to judicial records. 

Longview police officers found Baker shot in the 400 block of E. Pliler Precise Road and he was taken to a local hospital, where he later died. Minter told police she and Baker were in a verbal argument that turned physical.  

According to police, she was able to get away from Baker and she then retrieved a gun. She continued arguing with Baker and shot him.
